What is the maximum number of people on any course?

The maximum number of people on an indoor cookery course is 12, our outdoor kitchen can accommodate up to 30 depending on the event.

What is the minimum age for taking a course?

The minimum age required to take any course is 18 unless you are attending a children’s course. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

What skill level is required to take a cookery course?

We offer courses to suit all skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced cooks. The majority of our courses are aimed at the enthusiastic home cook who can follow a recipe and cook a meal. We will teach you everything you need to know to approach all areas of cookery with confidence.

I’m Gluten Intolerant / Coeliac / Vegetarian / Lactose Intolerant / Severe Food Allergy etc can I come on your courses?

Our kitchens are in use for a variety of different courses, and although they are deep cleaned nightly, we cannot guarantee a nut/shellfish/etc free environment. It is important that you call us to discuss your dietary requirements before booking a course and we will endeavour to accommodate you on all courses.

What is your disability policy?

Wherever possible we will aim to accommodate customers with a disability or additional needs on the course of their choice. We can adjust our courses to accommodate wheelchairs and physical impairments and many other conditions. Some courses may be more suitable than others depending on individual circumstances. Please telephone us to discuss your needs and requirements. We are happy to arrange planning visits to the school to work out what is possible in individual circumstances.

The access into the school is on one level and there is wide level access door to the cookery school kitchen. 

Parking close to the kitchen entrance can be arranged for blue badges holders.

The cookery school is equipped with one semi-ambulant WC and one standard WC.

How much practical work will I be doing?

All of our day, afternoon and morning courses are hands-on with a chef tutor who will guide you through the recipes and course content. Each course will set specific details of what your course will cover. You will also be expected to wash-up on our courses. Evening Demonstrations will not be hands-on, they will include Chef demonstrations and tasting!

Will lunch or dinner be provided for me?

If a course includes lunch or dinner it will be stated on the course details. On most of our courses, you will taste the dishes you create and your lunch will be cooked yourself.

Will I get the recipes to take home?

Yes, you will receive a copy of the recipes used on your course which are yours to keep.

Is the cookery school wheelchair accessible?

The cookery school is fully accessible for disabled people and those in a wheelchair. Please contact us prior to making a booking to discuss your needs.

What type of person comes on a course?

We cater to those who wish to learn to cook in a quality adult learning environment. The courses are mixed gender and attract all age groups.

Can I attend a course by myself?

All our courses are suitable for an individual to attend; you will meet plenty of like-minded people on the day. Of course, we welcome pairs, couples, and groups of friends – however if you come alone you are guaranteed an enjoyable, entertaining and informative day out.

What should I wear?

You need to wear sensible footwear with non-slip soles and covered toes. Long hair needs to be tied back; we advise wearing comfortable clothes. We also recommend wearing trousers.

What equipment do I need?

In the majority of courses you will be making food you can take home, we recommend you to bring Tupperware or similar with you to take your creations home to show your family and friends.

Can I buy Gift Vouchers?

The Food Hub Cookery School gift voucher makes a unique gift. You can buy them online or by phone; vouchers can be used for any course leaving the recipient to decide the course they wish to attend. The gift vouchers are valid from 12 months from the date they were purchased. The purchase date and expiry date are written on your voucher.
